Funeral services for William John Koranda, 1440 Downing Ave., Benton Harbor, were conducted at Our Lady of the Mount church in Cicero, Ill., Monday at 9:30 a.m. Mr. Koranda died March 31 at the St. Joseph hospital from injures received when he fell from a ladder while painting in the laundry room of the Whitcomb hotel.
The body was taken from the Dean chapel last Saturday to the Edward Hrejsa funeral home in Cicero, Ill.
The Rev. Fr. Frank officiated at the services. The American Legion Clearing post No. 600-AL attended in a body and conducted military rites at the graveside in Resurrection Cemetery at Cicero.
W.C. Stutzrient acted as commander and F. Barylski was chaplain. Casket bearers included E. Zerkec, J. Davidson, F. Hagar, Vincent Decker, Frank Broash, Joe Bartkus and Elmer Walker.

The body of William J. Koranda, who died Thursday at the St. Joseph hospital, will be taken Saturday morning from the Dean mortuary, Benton Harbor, to Edward Hrejsa funeral home, 5130 West 25th st., Cicero, Ill. Funeral Services will be held there Monday.
Mr. Koranda, whose residence was at 1440 Downing ave., Benton Harbor, died of injuries received when he fell from a ladder while painting in the laundry room of the Whitcomb hotel last Friday.
Friends may call at the Bean Chapel until Saturday morning.

Fall Fatal To Hotel Worker

Injuries To Brain Suffered Last Week Claim

William J. Koranda, a maintenance worker at the Whitcomb hotel, died late this morning at the St. Joseph hospital of injures he received last week in a fall from a ladder at the hotel.
Koranda, 56 years old, was painting in the laundry room last Friday when the accident occured. The ladder on which he was standing slipped, plunging him to the cement floor. He suffered a fractured skull and concussion.
Rushed to the St. Joseph hospital, Koranda was operated on by a brain specialist from South Bend Sunday evening in an effort to relieve pressure on the brain. His condition until late yesterday had been regarded as favorable.
A veteran of World War I, he had resided in the twin cities since 1914 and was 56 years old at the time of his death. During World War I he served with the 311th army engineers, Blackhawk division, for 37 months and saw overseas duty in France for two years. He belonged to American Legion Clearing Post 600 in Chicago, where he resided before moving to Benton Harbor.
Koranda was born Sept. 28, 1892, in CHicago, and in 1919 he married the former Miss Bessie Dtupka, who survives him, in that city. He and his family lived at 1440 Downing ave., Benton Harbor.
Surviving besided his wido are a son, Myles W. Koranda, Chicago: a sister, Mrs. Rose Becker, Freeport.

Friends may call at the Dean Chapel util Saturday noon, when the body will be taken to Chicago.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Burial will take place in the Cemetery of the Resurrection, Chicago.
