Emily Queener Cox, 99, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2005, in Maryville. Mrs. Cox was a
longtime member of Clinton First Baptist Church. She grew up in the Dutch Valley
community. She and Frank Alexander Cox were married in 1929 and lived in Clinton
until 1985, when they moved to Maryville to be near their daughter and family.
They took great pride in keeping a neat and beautiful home and yard.
She spent many pleasurable hours growing flowers. Mrs. Cox was well known as a
wonderful cook. Her happiest times were when she had her family gathered in
their home for big dinners. She was of a most generous nature and enjoyed
serving others rather than being served. She and her husband were both employed
by Magnet Mills from young adulthood until the mill closed. Mrs. Cox was a
volunteer for Meals on Wheels for many years. She was preceded in death by her
husband, her parents, Caswell and Burnette Seiber Queener; and her brothers,
Haskell, Ervin, Hope, and Ralph Queener. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce
Driskill and husband, Bill, of Maryville; her granddaughter, Carol Law and
husband, Paul, of Maryville; her grandson, David Driskill and wife, Donna, of
Dallas, Ga.; her great-grandsons, Caleb and Curtis Law of Maryville; and several
nieces and nephews. The funeral will take place at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7,
2005, in the chapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton. The Rev. Sam Dean
will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodhaven Memorial Garden. The family will
receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

COX, EMILY QUEENER - passed away
Sunday, February 6, 2005 in Maryville at 99 1/2 years of age. Emily was a long
